Evolution Aqua PURE+ Filter Start Gel

What It Is:

This is a live, gel-based bacterial culture designed for use in new pond filters or when you’ve replaced the biological media in an existing filter.

How It Works:

• The gel sticks to various types of filter media (beads, matting, foam, etc).
  
• Once applied, the beneficial nitrifying bacteria colonise your filter and start converting harmful ammonia and nitrite.
  
• This helps speed up filter “maturation,” meaning your biological filtration becomes effective more quickly and your fish are less stressed by toxic waste.
  

When / Why to Use It:

• When setting up a new pond filter.
  
• After replacing filter media.
  
• At the start of a new season or after a deep clean.
  
• Whenever you need to “seed” your filter with beneficial bacteria.
  

Dosage & Application:

• Shake well before use, to make sure the bacteria hasn’t settled.
  
• Unscrew the cap and pour the gel directly onto the filter media.
• There is no risk of overdosing the filter with gel.
  
• It’s highly recommended to run an air pump and diffuser when you dose, to give extra oxygen for the bacteria.
  
• If you have a UV-C unit running, switch it off when you apply the gel, and keep it off for 12 hours afterward.

Sizes & Coverage:

• 1 Litre bottle treated for ponds up to 10,000 litres.
  
• 2.5 Litre bottle treated for ponds up to 25,000 litres.
  

Limitations / Notes:

• This gel does not treat green water (algae) — if that’s an issue, you’ll need to use a UV-C clarifier.
  
• Regular water testing is advised, especially when starting your pond or after applying the gel.
