Product Description
Every pond contains billions of microscopic bacteria. Many of these are beneficial, playing an essential role in breaking down toxic fish waste within the biological filter and converting it into nitrate for plants to use. Alongside these helpful species, however, are opportunistic bacteria—such as Pseudomonas and Aeromonas—that can infect fish when they are stressed, weakened, or wounded. These harmful bacteria readily invade cuts, abrasions, or can even enter through the gut during digestive disturbances.
NT Labs Acriflavin works by reducing the levels of these opportunistic bacteria in the pond. By lowering their numbers, it helps minimise the risk of infection and decreases the severity of disease in ponds where fish are already compromised.
This treatment is particularly effective in hospital and quarantine systems, where fish often experience higher stress levels. However, it should not be used continuously in healthy ponds, as fish rely on a natural background population of bacteria to help maintain a strong immune response.
Dosage
If a second dose is needed, wait 10 days before reapplying.
Use 250 ml of NT Labs Acriflavin for every 2,000 gallons of pond water.
