Product Description
NT Labs Formaldehyde is an effective treatment for a range of external protozoan parasites, including white spot, Trichodina, Costia, and Chilodonella.
When to Use NT Labs Formaldehyde
Use this treatment when fish display signs of parasitic infection, such as:
White spots on the body or fins
Flicking or rubbing against surfaces
Gasping at the surface
A cloudy or opaque mucus film on the skin
Formaldehyde is particularly effective because it penetrates the fish’s mucus layer, reaching parasites that may be shielded from other treatments. For even greater effectiveness against protozoan parasites, it can be used in combination with Malachite.
How to Use NT Labs Formaldehyde
Test water quality with NT Labs Test Kits before treatment.
Mix the required dose in a clean bucket of pond water, then distribute it evenly across the pond’s surface. Leave for 7 days.
Turn off UV filtration for 5 days and ensure strong aeration during treatment.
If a second treatment is needed, confirm your diagnosis carefully—another medication may be more appropriate. Wait 7 days and carry out a partial water change before re-treating or switching treatments.
Only dose when you can monitor your fish closely and act quickly in the unlikely event of an adverse reaction.
If using with Malachite, mix both treatments together before adding them to the pond.
Warning
Do not use with orfe, rudd, tench, or sturgeon/sterlet.
Do not use if water temperature exceeds 30°C, or during hot, humid, or thundery weather.
Do not mix with any other treatment except Malachite.
Dip Treatment Option
For severe cases, NT Labs Formaldehyde may be used as a dip to provide rapid action.
Add 1 ml per 1 gallon of pond water.
Bathe the fish for 1 hour with strong aeration.
Monitor fish closely throughout the dip for any signs of stress.
Caution
Formaldehyde is a hazardous chemical and must be handled with care. Always read and follow the safety warnings on the product label.
